Mr. Charles showed us how to discover 'Sense of Space". He brings us to the nearest parks from his house. There's the swing, the grass, trees, and even a basketball court where some people are playing inside. There is sounds, the sun light, the heat, all of it.

But honestly, I am in the middle of uncertainty of what exactly we need to design for this project. Due to my quarantining situation. I did not get to see a lot. Just my bed, TV, and bathroom. But I took some pictures when I finally go out from that "prison".

For a backstory, I have been out of country and living in Taiwan for about 1 year and 1/2. Honestly, I was there to study for my uni. But I decided to drop out from uni and start a fresh start in Taylors.
Anyways back to the topic... I can't go home in those times because of the bestie, covid-19 is around. So, last year I could not spend Chinese New Years with my family. Although I am very happy I got to experience new things overseas, I do miss spending time with family.

Figure 1.1.3 Car Picture 3

This picture is when I finally got to go on Chinese New Year in my family's car with my dad driving and hearing music from the radio. It brings back to the times before corona. Sorry its a bit hazy and wobbly ><

So I want to associate my feelings with the place and the situation into my design.

1.2 Drafting

So for this project, I decided to draw a road from my view inside a car. There are 2 options that I was considering. Just like racing game, there is "I am driving in the car" POV, "I am the person right behind your car" POV, and also "I am the window looking outside" POV; I feel more towards a 1st POV and 3rd POV. How is 1st POV and 3rd POV looks like??

Figure 1.2.1 Inspiration 1 (3rd POV)

Figure 1.2.2 Inspiration 2 (3rd POV)

Figure 1.2.3 Inspiration 1 (1st POV)

Figure 1.2.4 Inspiration 2 (1st POV)

I could not decide yet, cause both has its own meaning to it. 1st point of view giving a much personal or my own space. While the 3rd point of view is giving a much boarder scope and view for you, the one that will be seeing and viewing the drawing.

Figure 1.2.5 Outline 3rd POV design

Figure 1.2.6 Coloring of 3rd POV design

Figure 1.2.7 First Draft 3rd POV design

This is the first draft for the 3rd POV, I quite like the coloring and all the elements that I have placed. The repetition of road lights, electricity pole and evergreen trees. It somehow worked together. But one thing that I feel quite weird is the road light... It has 2 heads but the right head is pointing the light to the.. woods? So I changed it a little to make more sense. Why red car? there's nothing a special meaning to it. I just want to have a red car~ Then a pretty sunset, that compliments the overall colors in the design.

Figure 1.2.9 Blended the sky color

Mr. Charles says that it gave him a Black Mirror Vibes and Twilight zone. Eerie feelings.

Figure 1.2.12 First Draft 1st POV Design

This is the first draft for the 1st POV, I placed some of the things that are essential and seems suitable in this drawing. I added a cross necklace that my family always hangs in my car and a small figurine that I got in Taiwan. Symbolizes the 2 place that I have called home. Taiwan and Indonesia. I am giving this drawing a purple tone to it, cause purple is a mixture of blue and red and, thus, has the balance of red’s stimulation and blue’s calming properties. I want to give out a luxury as well as a nostalgic feel to this piece. Luxury and nostalgic represents my feeling whenever I sit in a car beside my dad that is driving and go through the bustling road in Jakarta.

Figure 1.2.13 Added a purple hue and blended the sky

Mr. Charles commented that there is a lot of details that are taken for granted, such as the yellow screen in the middle and also the speedo-meter that is empty, and the mirror that shows no reflection. The first thing that he saw was the bobble head then the screen and the speedo-meter. But he also mentioned how the crucifix is placed in the middle and pointing towards the road, symbolizes that my believes leads the path.

I feel like the this design is the best choice as it contains details that can be connected to my own life.

1.3 Finishing Touch

After talking to Mr. Charles, I decided to choose the 1st POV; I changed the color palette by adding more highlights and shadow. And don't forget the speedo-meter and the radio station ><
I made the speedo-meter shows that the car is moving slowly, just how I am living my life slowly but steady.. hoho. Then the screen in the middle shows my favorite radio line; I will tune in to this every time I go to school, 98.7 FM always the go to. Then I also change the sky a tiny weeny bit, so we can see the crucifix stands out more by flipping the sky color, from light to dark.

1.4 Final thoughts

The final design "Come Along With Me" , reflects my journey on life right now. Not trying to be cheesy but these pas 1 year and 1/2 in Taiwan had taught a bunch of things that I did not even acknowledge its existence when I was in High school. How the university world can be so different from your "high school dramas". This road represents life that will keep on leading forward, to whatever it is. The sunrise, people say it indicates the start of the day, as I am starting my new journey in this picture. And the lights are on to guide me through the road, as well as my crucifix that hangs from the mirror. represents my faith and believe will always lead the road to a better place. I want to bring a nostalgic feel by using purply tone to this design. Don't forget the cute bobble head, that symbolize my time in Taiwan and the precious life lessons it had taught me.
