For the first week, in a group we were assigned to discuss about our Exercise 3: Kinetic Typography. The music and the art direction that we wanted to do.

But before that we did do a simple exercise to get us learn a bit on animating typography.

Fig 1.1 The list of songs that we came up

From the list above we did a poll in our WhatsApp group to decide the chosen song and the result is Mood by 24kGoldn with 4 people voting for it, one vote from me! hehe

After deciding the song we then can proceed to mood boarding. We all contribute in our Miro board to determine the overall look that we think is suitable for the song. Some of us drawing inspiration from the LED light themed and I personally took reference from vaporwave style.

After gathering ideas, we did a meeting call to pin point the specific style that we are looking for. We then stick to an LED light style, so glowing letterforms. Using neon colors.

Fig 1.3 List of fonts

Lets not forget the fonts that we will use! we did choose a couple but the main font is JsuanXian, and I used Don Graffiti as my alternate font.

To be honest, I did struggle on giving the glowing effect, I do not know what was the issue, so the result for my part is not "glowing enough". So I did fix it but it did not came out in the final product as I fixed it after.

VECTOR ANIMATION

For vector animation it is a little bit different. First from the AI file we need to manually separate the graphics into different layers for an easy animation process in the AE.
Fig 3.1 Separate the graphics into different layers

Then we can animate it freely, rotating them or moving them! Don't forget to apply easy ease on the animation as well as motion blur to give a blur effect for every motions we apply.

TASK 4

I got task 4 group A!
We must apply these conditions:
1.Animation: Position, scale, or rotation (Bounce Effect),
2.Layer: Motion Blur,
3.Keyframe: Easy Ease,
4.Choose one only:
Wiggle OR Puppet position pin tool

FEEDBACK

Mr. Martin's feedback on our typography video, is only the video quality that is not the same through out the video, some of the scene are blurrier or not as HD as the others.

REFLECTION

I think this is the most usefull tasks and exercises that this class offered. Because I did learn new things that I can do in After Effects. I became more familiar with this software after this tasks and lectures from Mr. Martin.

I found out that it is not that hard to create animation after learning new tools inside this software.
