BURN OUT VIDEO
We were told by Mr. Martin to write up a personal story or experience of burnout. Maybe it is an exercise for us to start off the final or group project that's about Burnout.
Many people have experienced burnout at some point in their lives, whether it be related to their work or personal responsibilities. People describes it as feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and disconnected from their work or activities that they used to enjoy. The experience of burnout can be quite distressing, with some individuals reporting feeling as if they are stuck in a rut and unable to regain their motivation and drive. It can definitely have negative impacts on mental and physical health, relationships, and productivity. I think sharing experiences and seeking support from others who have gone through similar struggles can be helpful in coping with and overcoming burnout.
One of my experiences that is similar and made me almost felt burnout is when I was in a different country and a different university, studying a subject that I did not expect it to be that hard. I experience an overwhelming amount of pressure and stress at first.. The pressure from myself wanting to do good, from class works that I can not understand at all, from classmates that can do their tasks well, and all other small things. But the kindness from the teachers, close friends and especially my parents and family, I can concur that feeling and live the moment and take the positive and negative things into mind and heart. I can positively gain a lesson from my experience.
I am very glad that I have that support system in my life. If I did not express and tell my struggle to my friends, family and my teacher, I don't think I will be able to accomplish all the things that I did and made me arrive to this moment.
DRAFT AND SCRIPT
So for the project itself we were given a script ready for us to make the animation!!Script is ready with audio and divided into parts to make it easier to divide the scenes that is needed to be drawn and animated.
We then proceed to make the overall idea for each points and scene of the script. We discuss it over a zoom call or teams call (online). After we discuss the scenes one by one, we curate the whole mood board and styling for the art and animation. We share and discuss the inspiration and ideas into a miro board.. The link to the miro board is down below:

We did gather ideas for the character, color pallette, background ideas and also illustration style.
The script has been written and decided from Mr. Martin so we only set up the scene and visual for the narration! Here is the link of our discussions and specific task division:

ANIMATICS
Then after deciding each visualization of each narration, we divide the task to do the animatics. Oh also we decide to make the character a light bulb. So we all did the respective tasks for animatics and the sketch of the character.

Base on the character sketch that I made, Jun Zhe, Vernice, Ming En and I did the animatics sketch. We then compile them into a storyboard and also for the animatics.
I specifically did the last scenes. :)

ILLUSTRATIONS
After finishing the animatics and gotten feedback from Mr. Martin* we proceed to do the illustration. Obviously I did the illustrations in Adobe Illustrator. First I did the outlining then proceeding to the shading.

Fig 2.21 Adding an extra scene to fill in scene 12
The animator for my scenes suggest me to add more scene for the scene 12 cause the timestamp is quite long and they can not do much for the scene 12 animation itself. So I got the idea to make this illustration as it depicts the line from the scene 12 very well.
ANIMATION OR MOTION GRAPHICS
Fig 2.22 Editing some layers on Adobe Illustrator
I need to do some animating and to adjust the animating of the hand ( for example ), I need to adjust the layer and sometimes combine the layers together...
Fig 2.23 Animating in After Effects
Here is one of the example of the animating that I did, because the reflection follows the real character, I decided to copy-paste and reverse the character to make it easier... Because the illustrator did cut of a small portion of the body, and I did use the illustration, the body will be cut of as I did try to animate the body up and down. If I did not change the layers it will be weird.
Fig 2.24 Masking the reflection
I did masked the reflection so that it only appears within the mirror!
