LECTURES
FRAME SIZE vs CHOICE OF LENS
There are wide angle lens, standard lens and tele lens. Able to
select vary focal length within the lens' range.
Comparing differences between wide angle/ standard/ tele lenses by
shooting same subject
Wide Shot- W.S
Shoot wide angle (18mm-30mm)
Medium Shot- M.S
Shoot standard angle
(40mm-50mm)
Medium Close up Shot- M.C.U
Shoot standard angle
(45mm-55mm)
HEADROOM
Headroom refers to enough room for the subject's head. Space around
their head yet not too much. Too low in the frame (too much headroom)
makes them appear short. Not enough headroom makes them look tall and
scrunched. Correct headroom gives the subject just enough space around
their head to make them look comfortable.

Music Video
After watching the example video that Mr. Martin gave us. We were
tasked to do more or less like the music video.
We need to complete these types of shot:
-Low angle
-High angle
-Medium shot
-Medium Close-up shot
-Close-up shot
-Extreme close-up shot
-wide shot (consist of us 3 team members but in a split video)
in our “music video”..

First, we decide the song that we want to cover. After looking at
multiple dance covers on songs, we decided either Dancing Queen by
Abba or Footloose. Considering the dance choreo and our dancing
skills, we choose Dancing Queen as our song.
After deciding the song that we want to cover, we need to find the
location of the shooting and match our schedule. We tried to set the
shooting time in the morning or afternoon as we need the
sunlight.
The mistake that we did is, we did not make the storyboard for this
project. So we winged every shot that we did for this video.
Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side, it rained. So we decided
to shoot it indoors. I think it does not matter as this is our MV drafting
before we ask for feedback from Mr.Martin.
Video MV Draft
After shooting it, comes the editing part. As I re-view some of the clips.
There were a couple of mistake in the camera settings, where when my head
moves, the camera detects and follow the movement of my head. I am not
really sure, at it is not camera so I am not familiar with the settings.
Then the color grade, which was very blue, no other colors shows up in the
clips. I don't think it is the lighting of the room, more so of the
white balance of the camera settings.

For the place and time, we decided to do it in a park so there will be
natural lighting. And the timing will be either morning or pass 12 o'clock
cause if we shoot it in noon the lighting of the sun will be bad, as the sun
will be at the top of our head, creating a shadow on our faces. So to match
up the schedule we did it around 3 PM.

Production Shot
To introduce us into fil making and what goes behind it, we were given a
project to do a production shot. We were told to recreate a trailer from
a Korean Movie, titled ".."
Before that we divide the class into 2 groups as the class is quite big.
The groups are based on the availability time for shooting. So, I went
to the Thursday group. Consisting of 14 members. We divide the group
into the given job desks.
After a discussion we've decided this,
Crew List:
1. Producer: Kim
2. Director: Arwinda
3. Assistant Director: Loh Qiao Yin, Sofia
4. Sound Recordist: Gina, Shin er
5. Gaffer: Gita, Christie
6. Director of Photography: Sherly, Melanie
7. Production Designer/Art Director: Arata, Jordan
8. Actor: Andy Lo Yu Hang
9. Actress: Han Le
After that we slowly gather the ideas on where to shoot as the scene and
storyboard had been decided by Mr. Martin.
Shooting brief
But before we do the real shooting we did an exercise shooting. We were task to recreate this particular scene. For us to practice our own job-desks, we were introduces to the technical things and the props that we will use in the production shoot. I am the gaffer so I am responsible for the lighting.
Fig 2.1 Lighting
There are lots of things that is needed to be considered as a gaffer. The technicalities and the settings that needs to be adjusted to fit the environment and the desired lighting.

FEEDBACK
REFLECTION
Experience
For this project, my teammate and I initially chose to dance to “Dancing
Queen” by Abba. Using the choreography from the movie “Mamma-Mia”. At
first we struggled, because we did not plan the storyboard and the idea
pf how to shoot it in general. This made an impact in the initial
shooting process.
We manage to shoot with us making and creating the idea along the way,
although it kind of slowing our process without the storyboard. Then the
editing part, is confusing as we did not really pin-point which clip is
for which part of the song. After a week and review of our draft, we
decided to re-shoot and also change the song. “Eye of the Tiger” is the
song we choose.
For the production shoot, I experienced lots of fun and new things that I have never felt before. How production works, and all the things that needs to be done to do a good production shoot. Indeed it is not easy as it seems.
Observations
Other creators, such as directors, or any creative people do go through
several steps before executing the shooting process. This makes the work
so much easier for them and also the team production. It can make the
shooting fast as the idea is clear. And it will translates well in the
end result, creating a masterpiece that we and all other audience
enjoy.
Findings
I realized that story boarding is very important! To jot down your ideas
and visualize it in a simple rough sketch/drawing.
